None of this is to suggest that Israel should measure itself by the standards of the Arab world. This record should give pause, however, to Western governments that shape their own statements to accommodate official Arab anger at Israel's minimalist act of self-defense. The Arab world has no standing to lecture Israel on human rights, the rule of law, or international legitimacy.
